Telecoms, electronics and technology group Grintek has appointed former Dimension Data director Shaun Liebenberg to replace retiring CEO Sybrand Grobbelaar.
Grobbelaar, who has been at the group for 27 years, announced his retirement in October last year. He spent 20 years as MD of Grintek Group and five as MD of Grintek Limited.
Liebenberg was MD of Plessey before being appointed business solutions director at Dimension Data, where he was responsible for infrastructure operations and business solutions.
"The recent strategic investment in Grintek by Saab brings with it a number of new opportunities to compete in global markets," says Grintek chairman Zoli Kunene.
He says Liebenberg, who has extensive high-level experience with a number of South African and multinational companies, is the ideal person to consolidate the transformation of the group into a significant international player.
Liebenberg says Grintek will continue to build on its strengths as a high technology and solutions provider while also looking at opportunities to diversify its product range and increase market share.
Liebenberg`s appointment takes effect on 1 March.
