Carol Barraclough, operations director of ePages.net, has been elected as the new chairperson of the KZN chapter of the Computer Society of South Africa.
During her time as vice-chairperson, she worked with the ICT Charter Committee of KZN on the drafting of the ICT Bill, and, more recently, ran a series of presentations where experienced business people within the CSSA were able to share their skills with emerging IT entrepreneurs.
Barraclough has had an interesting career, working as an IT manager in local government for 10 years before she came to ePages.net, where her roles have included account management, project management on major implementations, and production management for the company.
As a result, she is in the unique position of being able to understand and implement IT from both the government and business point of view.
In her position as chairperson, she intends to increase membership of the society. She says: "Most of all I want to make sure the CSSA offers relevant and necessary services to IT professionals and their employers, and I want to work toward introducing a CSSA IT Professional`s Continuing Education system, based on the one offered by the Australian Computer Society, which I believe will add real value to our profession." We`d like to congratulate Barraclough and wish her every success.
