The FibreCAT N40 storage solution, newly introduced by Fujitsu Siemens Computers, provides small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with a problem-free means of entering the world of Network Attached Storage (NAS).
This second generation of the company`s "Windows Powered NAS" offering is based upon the successful Intel-based RX300 PRIMERGY server, part of the latest generation from Fujitsu Siemens Computers in conjunction with Microsoft Windows technology. The FibreCAT N40 is the successor to the N30, and is now available from Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
Medium-sized companies in particular demand cost-effective and flexible IT infrastructure solutions that are specifically tailored to their requirements and can be integrated into their existing IT environment. These end users are also placing increasing importance on the consolidation of storage solutions they have already implemented.
It is equally important to them to have a local IT partner that not only offers support in selecting the best solution, but is also available during the initial set-up phase and for service tasks. The announcement of this new intelligent storage solution proves that Fujitsu Siemens Computers is fully equipped to meet these requirements, whilst offering higher reliability and availability.
"With our new FibreCAT N40, we are in an even better position to satisfy the requirements of our SME customers," explains Sean Wainer, Product Manager, PRIMERGY Servers and Storage at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "Seamless integration into existing UNIX or Windows IT infrastructures is possible thanks to this advanced storage technology. It will not only secure investments our customers have made in existing technologies, but also enhance their value."
File systems that reside on different platforms can be brought together centrally on the FibreCAT N40, with the result that significantly higher volumes of data can be managed with less outlay. The FibreCAT N40 is therefore the perfect appliance for storage consolidation. Additional outstanding features of the FibreCAT N40 include rapid installation and simple management.
Thomas Bauer, General Manager of the OEM EMEA Division at Microsoft says, "The FibreCAT N40 is further proof that Fujitsu Siemens Computers is reacting very quickly to growing customer requirements in the expanding market for NAS storage systems. The new generation offers medium-sized companies greater capacity and new connection options with considerable savings potential in the field of administration."
The FibreCAT N40 is also firmly positioned to cope with future growth in the volume of data. Even in the basic version, the new 146-Gbyte hard disks allow the storage of up to 584 Gbytes of data. The Fibre Channel interface also allows for the connection of FibreCAT S80, CX200 and CX400 online storage systems from Fujitsu Siemens Computers, in addition to the familiar FibreCAT SX30 (2TeraByte) storage subsystem. The two GigaBit Ethernet adapters fitted as standard and two free slots for additional adapters (SCSI, FC, Ethernet) offer a high degree of connection flexibility.
