New Gigabyte motherboard with Intel Viiv Technology optimised for home entertainment users

Johannesburg, 17 Jan 2006

Gigabyte Technology, together with official South African distributor Rectron, has introduced the GA-8I945GMH motherboard, the company`s first offering that is designed around Intel`s Viiv Technology.

Viiv Technology is designed to enhance the digital home entertainment experience by allowing users to record, store and play a variety of media types that include movies, music, television, gaming and photo editing.

The Gigabyte motherboard also incorporates Intel`s GMA 950 graphics engine for high-quality video without the need for a noisy plugged-in VGA card.

Furthermore, the integrated hardware-based MPEG2 decoding frees up important CPU resources in order to produce the best possible user experience. The motherboard`s Intel ICH7 South Bridge offers clear 8-channel surround audio.

"There`s no doubt that Gigabyte has gone all out, offering all the features and more that today`s home digital entertainment users require," comments Michael Hann, Gigabyte Technology product manager at Rectron.

The GA-8I945GMH is also optimised for Intel`s Pentium D Dual Core processors by providing multi-core functionality that significantly boosts performance during multi-tasking operations.

Lastly, the motherboard is bundled with Norton Internet Security to deliver solid protection against hackers, viruses and privacy infringements via the Internet.
