Innovative new technology company Assist/RX is basing its application infrastructure on an Oracle database supplied and installed by Oracle certified solution InfoWave Technology - part of JSE-listed Infowave Holdings, who will also provide on-going system maintenance. Assist/RX , an application service provider to South Africa`s healthcare industry, is a subsidiary of an international group with its headquarters in Canada.

South African general manager Chris Tudor-Price says Assist/RX will provide real-time, on-line healthcare claims adjudication to administrators wanting to outsource their IT functions. The service reduces administration costs and facilitates the implementation of cost-effective clinical management programs.

Assist/RX is working closely with aid administrators, medical practitioners and pharmacists to provide benefits to patients through preventative care and effective clinical management.

"In this environment it is essential that our applications are available to customers around the clock. To deliver this service our systems must be dependable, scalable, robust and secure, which is why we are relying on the expertise of InfoWave for the installation and ongoing support of both our on-line transaction processing databases and our data warehouse."

He says that the installation is proceeding smoothly and on schedule. "We are implementing a very complex, high-performance database. InfoWave`s service, support and knowledge of mission-critical, parallel server implementations of the Oracle database has been very impressive." The first application to go live next month will be the Pharmacy Benefits System.
