US-based firm Computer Storage Services Inc, California, USA, launched the South African branch headed by James Grcic in May 2000 with an initial cash injection of only $30 000. Much hard work, clear vision and perseverance from dedicated staff saw the company valued at $2 500 000 in September last year - with an offer from a Chinese consortium for a cash buyout, representing a return on investment of around 8 000% in just four years. In November 2004 Computer Storage Services Africa bought the remaining shareholding from the parent company and traded developed technology for the remaining 60% shareholding from the US. This allowed the company to become 100% independent and South African owned.

Bursting at the seams
Computer Storage Services has doubled year on year in turnover for five consecutive years. The increase in growth has required the company to build and invest in a state of the art facility in Midrand, including offices in Cape Town and Durban. Located in Waterfall Park, Midrand, is the development of the latest AAA grade facility and data storage centre to date, that will house the company`s new facility - The CipherVault. This biometric access controlled facility will be a unique positioning for clients to store data offsite in one of the most secure and cost-effective centres on the continent for both small and large business entities.
