New Horizons Computer Learning Centres Johannesburg and Women in IT are working together to provide free computer literacy programmes to people with no previous exposure to IT.
Mohammed Ebrahim, of New Horizons, explains: "In order for the country to prosper and to bridge the digital divide, as well as imbalances in skills inherited from our past, businesses must get involved in developing programmes to address these problems."
The Siyadala project is aimed at disadvantaged individuals, especially women, who have no experience with computers.
The project will be introduced at the New Horizons Johannesburg Campus, covering basic computer skills such as office applications, Internet and e-mail.
