New Iomega 250GB MiniMax targets Mac users

Johannesburg, 17 Aug 2005

Iomega, a global leader in data storage, has launched the Iomega MiniMax desktop hard drive (HDD), a high-speed dual connectivity - USB 2.0 and Firewire - external device designed to complement the form factor of the Mac mini and boost its storage capacity by up to 250GB.

Bobby Kennedy, Key Account Manager for Iomega in SA, says that despite its Mac mini styling, the new HDD has been designed with flexibility in mind. It is not only a perfect companion to the Mac mini, but with three USB and three Firewire ports, it can function as a complete Mac hub.

The design of the drive means that it is equally at home stacked with the Mac mini or functioning independently as a stylish desktop HDD for Mac or PC users.

"Iomega`s MiniMax Drive has been designed to appeal to a wide range of data storage demands," says Kennedy. "Not only does our drive perfectly complement the Mac mini but with the inclusion of multiple USB and Firewire ports, it becomes a Mac hub allowing multiple users to manage, organise and protect digital movies, photography and music."

The MiniMax HDD comes with Dantz Retrospect and Iomega Automatic Backup Pro software for hassle-free backups and data recovery. Its features include a USB 2.0 high speed 3-port hub; a FireWire 1394a 3-port repeater/hub; a smart power switch that powers up and down in tandem with Mac mini; and a specially designed active/passive cooling system.

The Iomega MiniMax HDD is available in SA through Storgate Africa and Datashuttle at a recommended retail price of R1 799.99 (160GB) and R2 199 (250GB).
