New Plantronics range to make wireless office a reality

New Bluetooth, DECT and voice over IP models to suit multiple business needs
Johannesburg, 31 Mar 2005

Plantronics has announced the release of what it terms the most versatile range of wireless office products on the market to suit the widest possible range of user requirements.

Covering Bluetooth, DECT as well as VOIP technology standards, the company showcased at the recent Cebit trade fair three products, aimed predominately at the mobile office worker, in a move to bring the wireless office a step closer to reality.

Conventional telephony (ie analogue, PBX)

For users of conventional telephony systems in the office space, Plantronics have developed the CS60 Micro which is now available in Europe and launched as the successor for the best-selling CS60.

To answer or finish calls, this wireless headset comes with unique IntelliStand which makes using a headset as easy as a conventional telephone. When a call comes in, simply lifting the headset off the cradle automatically activates the hook switch control and answers the call, enabling users to freely move up to 100m away from their phones.

The CS60 Micro provides users with nine hours of talk time and features superior digital sound quality and comfort.

Voice over IP (VOIP)

The world`s first wireless USB headset system, the CS60-USB, allows users to enjoy high quality digital sound and the benefits of wireless freedom. With PerSonoCall software and DECT technology, users can answer calls up to 100m from their PCs.

Now available across Europe, the CS60-USB comes with a full two-year warranty.

Bluetooth

The award-winning multipoint Voyager 510 Bluetooth headset system enables users to easily answer and make calls from a range of Bluetooth-enabled devices such as the office phone, mobile phone, laptop or PDA while using only a single wireless headset. With up to six hours talk time, up to 100 hours of stand-by, and enhanced sound quality, the new headset has been designed to offer maximum mobility, unsurpassed comfort, versatility and ease-of use.

The system comes in two versions - the competitively priced Voyager 510 headset, or the complete Plantronics system, (Voyager 510 system), which is available in a number of options, and includes a base unit that upgrades any conventional telephone to be Bluetooth compatible. Both will be available mid-2005.

"The new range of wireless headsets builds on Plantronics well-known heritage of superior sound quality and outstanding comfort while taking new and emerging technology platforms such as voice over IP or Bluetooth into account and catering to the needs of a variety of end-users," explains Paul Clark, Marketing Director for Plantronics in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
