New powerful notebook in Dell`s smallest package makes mobility light, easy

Latitude X300 delivers outstanding usability and mobility.
Johannesburg, 05 Aug 2003

For people looking to do more and carry less, Dell today launches its ultra-slim latest notebook. Weighing just 1.32kg and only 20mm thin, the Latitude X300 offers high-speed computing which does not compromise on performance.

Whether on the road or working from home, this system comes with the Intel Pentium M processor and has enough performance to handle home- and business-productivity applications, like e-mail, Web browsing and presentations. Users can choose between an External D/Bay, connected via a powered USB 2.0 port, or an optional MediaBase, both allowing them to use D/Family media modules such as DVD+RW burner drives or a second hard drive. With an optional MediaBase that connects to the bottom of the notebook, users obtain 10/100/1000 Ethernet capability and an array of additional ports, providing many of the capabilities of a desktop replacement notebook in an ultra-light, extremely portable form factor.

The MediaBase also contains a spare battery charger bay, which can either charge a second battery when connected to AC power or help power the system when operating under battery. Based on direct customer feedback, the MediaBase also is equipped with front control buttons for volume control, power switching and undocking.

The X300 features integrated wireless technology and comes equipped standard with Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, including the Intel PROWireless 2100 (802.11b) MiniPCI card. Customers can also choose the Dell TrueMobile 1300 (802.11b/g). Additional to this the X300 can also be equipped with an optional integrated Dell TrueMobile 300 Bluetooth card.

Two integrated USB 2.0 ports and one IEEE 1394 interface help with the transfer of large data files, digital images and digital video. Users may also choose to store data, photo albums or music libraries on secure digital cards via the built-in secure digital media slot.
