Lazer Link, resellers of new and refurbished second-hand laptops, has launched a series of cost-effective, locally assembled laptops onto the South African market.
The new LazerNote range extends from a lower end Celeron to the Pentium III 800MHz with 15" monitor. "They are 10% cheaper than the lowest priced, currently available laptops on the market," says Anthony Gardner, MD of Lazer Link
Alberton-based Lazer Link (www.lazerlink.co.za) was set up five years ago by Anthony and his son Warren to meet a market need for reliable, low-cost, second-hand laptops.
"There has been a big demand for second-hand laptops and it is difficult to source them at the right price," says Gardner.
Lazer Link are also resellers of the Pinnacle Micro range of Proline, Nexcom, and Twinhead notebooks.
"We now wish to expand our business by developing our own brand of laptops. We believe that with the steep price of laptops in the market today, there is a place for affordable notebooks for end users."
Anthony says Lazer Link will be assembling locally and sourcing necessary components from local distributors, to make up the LazerNote. "The LazerNote, which has the option for an internal CD writer, unavailable in most laptop ranges, will be sold direct to end -users. We are not going to make use of traditional distribution structures, the notebooks will be available directly from our offices.`
He advises that the notebooks will carry a one-year guarantee with an option of three years.
Software failures will be supported and corrected online via the Internet, whilst hardware failures will be rectified within 24 hours of the failure. This will be achieved anywhere in South Africa via courier services that are currently at Lazer Link`s disposal.
Garner adds that Lazer Link is in a position to offer a buy-back when users wish to upgrade their laptops.
