New Software AG tool transforms disparate corporate data into relevant, focused info tailored to user needs

Johannesburg, 04 Feb 2005

In a development which promises to revolutionise the way individuals obtain corporate data and make business decisions, Software AG have unveiled its unique Enterprise Information Integration (EII) solution, a software gateway that provides access to data sources using business terms regardless of the system or format of the underlying data.

The new integration platform dynamically aggregates data based on the role of the user requesting the information and the context of how the information will be used. As a result, even non-technical users can gain a relevant, focused view of dissimilar corporate information.

Frikkie Bosch, Product Specialist at Software AG South Africa, elaborates: "Our EII product uses Extensible Mark-up Language (XML) tagging to link business terms to data, which means users can access data using their own terminology and receive information in ways that make sense to their particular roles in the organisation. This single view of information promises to radically improve the way users interact with corporate data sources throughout the company."

Unlike most EII solutions on the market, which use a simplistic 'virtual database' approach, Software AG's product integrates actual data structures so that users can create customised, actionable information from raw data in real-time.

Bosch says: "This goes well beyond the conventional approach of managing just the sources of, and access to, data. The Software AG design provides true enterprise information integration, and allows business users to leverage the front-office desktop tools or applications they are accustomed to such as Excel or Word, portals, and CRM applications. As a result, they gain easy access to real-time reporting facilities, automated and streamlined administrative functions, integrated support functions and self-service capabilities. Not just employees, but also customers and partners benefit from Software AG's innovation."

EII is built on a service-oriented architecture (SOA), so it helps businesses easily integrate information into new or existing applications or processes. It helps IT staff, business analysts and management understand the totality and composition of data residing throughout the enterprise.'
