Hardware and software distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC) has launched storage products for small to medium enterprises (SMEs).
It maintains that the products can assist IT decision-makers and managers to eliminate common storage management and backup challenges.
DCC storage division manager Raul Del Fabbro explains that often storage management- and backup-related challenges can limit network performance and negatively affect data security, speed of recovery and business continuity, driving up total cost of ownership and minimising return on investments.
The storage products launched by DCC are EMC`s Clarion AX100, Overland Storage`s REO Series, and Veritas` Storage Exec.
Del Fabbro sayss DCC`s decision to distribute this particular suite of products was prompted by repeated requests from product resellers and their clients who seek backup and storage solutions.
"Over the past year, there has been a large craving from small to mid-sized companies for a holistic backup and storage solution," he says.
He points out that this suite of products appeals to such businesses, as they are relatively cheap and offer a fast and easy upgrade path for SMEs struggling with common storage issues.
Del Fabbro says EMC`s AX100 features up to 12 serial ATA disks in a 2U rack-mountable enclosure, with the capacity to scale from three to 12 drives. With 160GB and 250GB disks, it provides from 480GB to 3TB total capacity.
Del Fabbro points out that the Overland Storage REO 1000, with ProtectionPAC, is low-profile disk-based backup and recovery appliance designed to meet the data backup needs of small business or branch office users.
He claims Veritas` Storage Exec provides real-time storage quotas for individual users, blocks non-business files, such as MP3s and viruses, from company servers, and provides detailed storage reporting.
