Venture Computer, the sole distributor in South Africa for Tally Printer Corporation announced today the T8104 Colour Network Laser Printer. Priced comparably to other high performance workgroup monochrome laser printers, the T8104 produces black and white documents at 16 pages per minute and colour documents at 4 pages per minute (4-colour) and 8 pages per minute (2-colour).
"Business as usual now comes in colour, thanks to the T8104 Network Laser," said Richard Fearon, sales and marketing director at Venture Computer. "The same device that produces departmental spreadsheets, correspondence and proposals at 16 pages per minute now delivers full colour transparencies, newsletters or even work-in-progress proofs at speeds of up to 8 pages per minute."
The standard T8104 is fully equipped for shared environments of multiple users with monthly workloads of 20,000 pages monochrome and 5,000 pages colour. Three interfaces, serial, parallel and Ethernet make the T8104 accessible across PC, Macintosh, UNIX and OS/2 platforms.
The T8104 can handle heavy loads of network traffic due to the 24 MB of RAM (upgradable to 384 MB) and the powerful 133 MHz processor. To handle the additional demands of shared printer management, monitoring and maintenance the T8104 also includes these management tools:
- . TallyAdmin: This allows administrators to remotely install, configure and manage a single printer or group of printers.
- . TallyView: This is accessible by the user through any Internet browser, this printer-resident Web page displays on-screen "gas gauge" indicators for job status, printer configuration and consumable levels.
- . Tally Print Auditor: This tracks printer activity such as supplies usage per job, times of peak usage and number and average size of print jobs. (Available with optional hard disk.)
The T8104 also offers a transparency sensing feature that automatically recognises transparencies and adjusts printing characteristics to create saturated, vibrant colour on overhead presentations.
The printer is able to produce full colour on legal size media. In addition, heavy stock settings accommodate paper as thick as 90 pound stock--the heaviest paperweight available for printers in this class.
The T8104 comes with driver support for Windows 3.x, 95, 98 and NT 3.51/4.0 as well as PCL5c and PostScript Level 2 emulations. Regular service is simplified with QuickChange, monocomponent, high-capacity toner cartridges that are clean and easy to replace. In addition, TallyColor colour management provides non-technical users with automatic colour control while giving sophisticated users the ability to tweak colour output to suit demanding graphic-intensive printing tasks. The T8104 is ICC compliant and fully supports Pantone, Apple ColorSync, Windows 95 ICM and other colour management systems.
