Calling it a “match made in petrol head heaven”, TomTom has released the Go Live Top Gear edition.
TomTom is punting the device based on its 'Top Gear features', such as 'Stig mode' and the option to have Jeremy Clarkson's voice providing directions. Stig mode, says the company “renders the device instantly silent”.
Steven Ambrose, MD of Strategy Worx, says the Top Gear features are an example of good marketing, and set the device apart. He adds that the satnav is reasonably priced. “It will appeal to petrol heads and car enthusiasts,” says Ambrose, adding that the features add “value and excitement to the brand”.
Daan Henderickx, country manager for TomTom SA, says the device is for Top Gear fans, and describes it as “perfect for drivers who love the open road”.
According to TomTom, the device gives accurate traffic information that is updated every two minutes. “HD Traffic gives drivers detailed incident reports, length of delays and reasons for them, accurate travel and arrival times, and alternative route proposals,” it says.
TomTom says the device is already available in SA, and will retail at R1 999. The price includes TomTom's Live Services for one year.
