Fujitsu Siemens Computers has launched WebAccelerator, a powerful new server appliance that significantly enhances Net performance for enterprises and larger organisations with over 100 users.
WebAccelerator continues Fujitsu Siemens Computers` clear commitment to "Energizing the Net", and combines the company`s PRIMERGY Intel-based server line with Novell`s award-winning Internet Caching System to speed up Web content delivery and to deliver increased Web performance at a tenth of the cost of rival enterprise solutions.
Within an enterprise environment, the WebAccelerator boosts user access to the Internet, intranet or extranet by caching the static elements of frequently accessed pages and delivering them to users between 10 to100 times faster than standard Web page access across the net (forward and transparent caching).
WebAccelerator can also be installed as a front-end solution for e-commerce applications, where it reduces waiting time by 90% compared to accessing the Web server directly (backward caching). Allowing up to one billion hits per day and up to 120 000 simultaneous connections, WebAccelerator operates as an integral part of any successful e-commerce strategy, encouraging customers to view more pages, stay longer and buy more.
WebAccelerator delivers real bottom line benefits for enterprises and larger organisations - typically with over 100 users - that access the Internet or who provide content via the Internet to external users. It is particularly relevant for Internet service providers (ISPs), who can now deploy WebAccelerator to optimise performance and cost levels for their customer base. The WebAccelerator is specifically designed to be easy to use, and is configured for fast and simple implementation. The network administrator requires the user to plug into the network and to access or enter the CD, and from any client PC operating within the same network, it is up and running within 15 minutes. All WebAccelerators include proxy, filter and prefetch (up to 999 pages) functionality.
Four different Fujitsu Siemens Computers WebAccelerator server appliance models (S, M, L, XL with regard to number of hits and user) are available, and each can be connected as a standalone solution into any operating system environment via a standard Internet interface.
