New Xerox MFP boosts office productivity

Johannesburg, 16 Sep 2009

Xerox has pumped up productivity for small and mid-sized companies with a new black-and-white multifunction printer (MFP), loaded with high-end features not commonly found on an entry-level MFP.

“The Xerox WorkCentre 5230 multifunction printer is designed to support busy work environments that not only need to print, copy, scan and fax, but also require more advanced functionality,” says Erica Marks, product manager for office systems group at Bytes Document Solutions. “The MFP prints and copies at speeds up to 30 pages per minute and has a paper capacity of up to 5 100 sheets to quickly tackle office print jobs.”

The device comes with a number of finishing options that make it easy to handle complex tasks, such as booklet making and hole-punching.

"The new WorkCentre 5230 proves that offices can get a lot more from an MFP than just prints and copies," says Marks. "It is full of enterprise-level features to simplify work and give SMEs the productivity and efficiency they need, while maximising their printer return on investment."

Some key features of the new MFP include:

* Scanning capabilities, such as scan to e-mail, scan to network, mailbox or PC, as well as job flow sheets, and automatically routing documents to a predefined file for fast retrieval;
* Network authentication, hard disk overwrite and full system Common Criteria Certification keep businesses' information safe;
* Built-in Auditron and Xerox Standard Accounting help IT administrators track usage and control cost; and
* Xerox's Extensible Interface Platform (EIP) allows software vendors and developers to customise the user screen and create specific workflows. Users can scan information directly to a client folder without specifying the client name.

The WorkCentre 5230 can be easily added to an organisation's network with Xerox's Mobile Express Driver and Global Print Driver. These free, downloadable solutions provide simple connections to Xerox and non-Xerox equipment. With new configuration options, IT administrators have greater control of default settings before distributing the driver to users. Enhanced discovery methods on the Mobile Express Driver make identifying available MFPs and printers more efficient and reliable, enabling on-the-spot printing for mobile workers.

The WorkCentre 5230 is Energy Star-qualified and part of the Xerox Green World Alliance - a worldwide initiative to encourage customers to recycle or dispose of supplies in a manner that minimises impact on the environment.

The WorkCentre 5230, along with the WorkCentre 5222 (22ppm) and the WorkCentre 5225 (25ppm), are available through Bytes Document Solutions and its partners. Bytes Document Solutions is the authorised Xerox distributor to 24 sub-Saharan countries.
