OKI Printing Solutions has proudly announced its achievement of the 'number three' market share position for colour laser MFPs (Multifunctional Printers), according to the most recent Q1 2006 figures from IDC's report on the state of the South African printing market.
According to the IDC data, OKI achieved 12.4% market share, behind industry stalwarts Nashua and HP. OKI's performance has also surpassed that of long-time industry dominators such as Xerox, Gestetner and Brother.
Neil Rom, managing director of OKI Printing Solutions South Africa says his company is ecstatic about the results and that OKI believes these figures are particularly impressive, considering it wasn't even a player in the colour laser MFP market at this time last year.
"The colour laser MFP range is the most recent addition to the OKI arsenal of printing solutions," says Rom, "and our achievement of third place in the market share rankings is testimony to the fact that we've truly gotten the recipe right with this range of solutions."
Apart from its technical quality and competitive total cost of ownership, Rom says a strong contributor to the OKI brand's success in the colour laser MFP space has been its employment of an innovative channel model. "From the word go, we chose to make our colour laser MFP range available to a new breed of resellers, namely partners who focused on office automation as their key business and long term rental-finance agreements.
"Players in this dedicated channel are officially known as OKI OAPs or Office Automation partners. With years of experience in the copier space, it's clear that our OAPs have the right approach to the market and a clear understanding of the market demands.
"This experience bundled with the competitive total cost of ownership, low acquisition outlay and reliability of our colour laser MFP range has made OKI's value proposition in the MFP space extremely compelling," he enthuses.
"And the results speak for themselves. We believe that with this solid base we can only go from strength to strength," Rom says.
"It's truly rewarding to see the market finally sharing in the enthusiasm we have for our products. We aim to increase our lead over competitors and take a larger chunk of the market share over the coming year," he concludes. ENDS
