Specialist storage distribution company in the Siltek Technology Supply Chain Group, Intelligent Systems (IS), has been appointed the southern African representative for Nexsan Technologies - an OEM manufacturer of high availability, mission-critical data storage solutions.
Gerhard Grundlingh, marketing manager at IS, says the Nexsan agreement represents and inevitable move for IS into the RAID (redundant array of independent disks) side of the storage business. "We have long been acknowledged experts in the removable - optical and magnetic tape - storage and this is a natural evolution to enable us continue serving our customers best interests."
The Nexsan product roadmap includes RAID solutions capable of sustained 150+ megabytes per second RAID 5 performance with both Fibre Channel and SCSI disk drives. Dubbed InfiniSAN, the range products was introduced earlier this year and includes a host of new SAN (storage area network) technologies.
The distribution agreement positions IS as Nexsan`s sole sales contact in southern Africa, enabling the local company to handle on-site meetings, perform sales training and do pre-sales consultations. The local company will also make representatives available for trade shows and for other marketing activities.
