Businesses today need to rapidly deploy and harness the power of next-generation applications, in order to boost agility, speed innovation, and transform to the “instant-on enterprise”.
This is according to David Donatelli, executive VP and GM of HP's Enterprise Servers and Networking Business Unit.
He noted that new application deployments can be complex, taking up to 18 months to roll out and optimise for the business.
In addition, he said the complexity of maintaining and integrating these environments often results in missed deadlines, incomplete projects, increased costs and lost opportunities. In fact, only 32% of application deployments are rated as being successful by organisations.
To combat this, HP unveiled the HP AppSystems portfolio, during its HP Discover event, held in Las Vegas this week.
According to Donatelli, the portfolio offers a fully integrated technology stack that includes hardware, management software, applications, tailored consulting and HP Solution Support services.
The portfolio is made up of HP Vertica Analytics System, the HP Business Data Warehouse Appliance and the HP Database Consolidation Solution.
He said these solutions greatly improve application performance and reduce implementation from months to a matter of minutes, and are optimised for key application areas, including business intelligence, real-time analytics, data management and collaboration.
"HP AppSystems are built on industry-standard components, which deliver flexibility and agility, while many competitive offerings are proprietary, creating additional silos within an enterprise that increase complexity, cost and risk."
Donatelli added that the solutions can be quickly deployed, allowing enterprise and medium-sized business clients to realise the value of their applications and capitalise on new market opportunities.
"The AppSystem portfolio supports a client's choice of applications and is built on open standards to seamlessly integrate within existing infrastructures."
He explained that the HP Vertica Analytics System gives clients the ability to analyse huge amounts of data in real-time, unlocking predictive trends and patterns, providing competitive differentiation and delivering the operational insight that allows customers to monetise their data.
"The HP Business Data Warehouse Appliance reduces the complexities and costs faced by many mid-market clients when deploying data warehouses up to 5TB."
He said the HP Database Consolidation Solution simplifies the management of virtualised infrastructures associated with the proliferation of SQL server databases. He commented that it consolidates hundreds of transactional databases into a single, virtual environment while enabling applications to access data.
Once installed, the high-performance SQL Server databases can be provisioned in minutes and migrations can be accomplished with practically no downtime, he added.
The HP Vertica Analytics System, HP Database Consolidation Solution and HP Business Data Warehouse Appliance are available immediately.
