Next-gen iPad debuts in 2011

According to analysts at Goldman Sachs, Apple, which sold more than 3 million iPads in the first 80 days after the tablet's debut, may introduce a new version in the second quarter of 2011, reports Business Week.

The new iPad with a 9.7-inch display may be thinner and lighter, with a built-in camera and mini USB drive, according to a report by analysts including Hong Kong-based Henry King. Hon Hai Precision Industry, maker of electronics, will likely be the supplier, the analysts wrote.

The iPad touchscreen computer has become one of the Cupertino, California-based company's top-selling products in its first year on the market.

Asus intros dual processor netbook

Asus has unveiled the Eee PC 1015PEM netbook with the Intel Atom N550 dual core processor, says Ame Info.

The processor provides 23% faster clock speeds than single core processor netbooks, according to the company.

The 10.1-inch netbook features the ASUS-exclusive super hybrid engine technology which delivers a battery life of up to 13 hours and a 250GB or 320GB hard drive.

Nokia developed first smartphone

Finnish handset manufacturer Nokia could have achieved dominance over the smartphone market, if its executives hadn't rejected the first smartphone, states Top News.

In an interview with the New York Times, former Nokia employee Ari Hakkarainen said that Nokia researchers had developed a smartphone prototype in 2004, but the company's management rejected the model, claiming it would be a costly flop.

Commenting on the topic, Hakkarainen said, “It was an expensive device to produce, so there was more involved for Nokia. So management did the usual; they killed it.”
