Fujitsu Siemens Computers` sleek, lightweight Pocket LOOX PDA, based on the latest Intel 400MHz PXA250 applications processor, goes on sale in Europe from mid-July 2002.
Key features of the new high-end PDA are its high connectivity, speed and modularity, while the facility to add a second battery or GSM/GPRS connection, as a plug-on module is unique. An integrated Compact Flash (CF) Card slot type II and SD/MM-Card slot give easy access to a wide range of devices including memory extensions, digital cameras, GPS systems and barcode readers.
"The Pocket LOOX PDA is the first member of a new family of flexible, high-end mobile devices from Fujitsu Siemens Computers. We are putting a powerful tool in the hands of business people and consumers, allowing them to be more productive when they are on the move. Less time is wasted synchronising data between fixed and mobile devices and features like the advanced single hand operation and the many expansion options make really effective mobile working possible. This flexibility, as well as integrated security functions, make the Pocket LOOX a true `Mobile Life Companion`," said Peter Esser, Executive Vice President, Volume Products and Supply Operations, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
Running on Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 software, the Pocket LOOX offers easy connectivity through an integrated Bluetooth module. Users can synchronise calendar entries, contacts, e-mails, programmes and data by connecting wirelessly to PCs or Bluetooth hotspots. The optional GSM/GPRS plug-on module offers full mobile phone functionality and will be available from October 2002.
Security is a key concern for both mobile business professionals and consumers. To offer best-in-class data security, the Pocket LOOX is equipped with F-Secure FileCrypto software, which provides secure user authentication and automatic protection against unwanted data disclosure. In addition, F-Secure anti-virus software offers up-to-date and always-on protection against harmful content.
