Nigeria unveils draft ICT policy

and called on stakeholders and members of the public to comment, Telecom Paper reports.

The Nation says the ICT policy will help support initiatives such as the Wire Nigeria project, meant to facilitate the build-out of fibre-optic cable infrastructure, as well as the State Accelerated Broadband Initiative, aimed at stimulating Internet service demand.

The initiatives also include the Universal Service Provision Fund, a scheme put in place to provide ICT access in unserved and underserved areas of the country through the provision of subsidies to the private sector.

The ICT policy will also help devise an ICT framework for in the country, IBN Live states.

The policy committee is working on bringing out an independent e-content, the first by a government organisation.
