Nigerian-based IT company Expertedge Software and Systems, a subsidiary of the Computer Warehouse Group, has given over 50 computers to a Nigerian college to help students and administration network, says Nkecki Eze, management and marketing officer at Expertedge.
An additional 60 desktop computers are going to be issued in the near future, says Eze.
The transfer of computers is part of a wider project called CollegeNet (CNet), which aims to help build edu-portal management services in Nigerian colleges and education institutions across the country, she says.
CNet will allow students to handle all student issues online. It provides a secure medium for education administration to handle examination results, as well as fees, Eze adds.
There has also been a deployment of telecommunication infrastructure, which will allow the education institute to connect with other education centres, as well as with the Internet. The project encourages ICT organisations to install computer hardware in education faculties, to help the growth of the project, she says.
CNet is a complete Web application solution for academic institutions at all levels, she adds.
"The project is an important one, which will help the Nigerian education system become more efficient and streamlined."
