No V3 stress for ITIL customers, says NSS

Johannesburg, 09 Mar 2007

NSS has assured all currently certified ITIL practitioners and managers that their certification will still be valid when ITIL version 3 is released. NSS CEO Lynda Odendaal says new certification programmes will be developed to ensure the changes in Version 3 are addressed, with upgrade courses available for people wishing to bridge the gaps between V2 and V3.

"There is currently little detail available about the changes in the certification programmes," Odendaal says. "The exam bodies are currently licensed by OGC to continue with V2 exams until April 2007 and It is expected that this date will be extended as the new publications will not reach the market in time to allow the examination bodies (EXIN and ISEB) time to set up the new exam programmes and have the training vendors adapt their material for the V3 curriculum."

NSS has been actively following the progress of V3, and in order ensure a smooth transition for its customers, NSS staff members applied (and were selected) to be involved in the public review process of the V3 publications. NSS therefore has immediate insight into the new releases.

"We will continue our involvement in the process and remain in close communication with EXIN to ensure they adapt to the new standard as soon as possible," Odendaal confirmed.

NSS has been actively involved in the service management arena for a number of years and as a result of the company's close involvement in - and understanding of - the changes, it is equipped to assist customers in meeting any challenges.

Indeed, when the Clustered Practitioners were released in 2005, NSS was the first provider in Africa to present the course and its students became the first to be certified on the new format.
