Novell announces support for Dell`s new PowerApp.cache appliance servers

Johannesburg, 07 Apr 2000

Novell has announced support for Dell`s new line of PowerApp.cache appliance servers. Leveraging Novell`s new release of ICS ( Caching System), the industry`s leading Web cache technology, Dell`s PowerApp.cache appliance servers are high-performance caching servers designed to meet the demanding needs of eBusiness applications and allow more efficient online business operations.

Novell`s ICS technology, recently awarded top honors in an independent competitive Web caching benchmark for delivering superior speed and performance, enables Dell PowerApp.cache appliance servers to effectively handle the high-performance, Web-intensive needs of providers, dot-coms, and click-and-mortar companies and institutions that are establishing or building out their Internet infrastructures.

"Dell`s Internet infrastructure initiative announcement today is significant as it signals their continued commitment to provide high-performance products and services for the delivery of Internet content based on Novell ICS technology," said Novell corporate business strategist James Stewart. "Through our caching partnerships, Novell fulfills the market`s insatiable appetite for improved Web site performance, and ultimately provides a better online experience for both enterprise and individual web users."

"More than ever, dot-coms, service providers and traditional businesses are leveraging the power of the Internet across all business functions. To ensure success, companies today are building or extending their Internet infrastructure to dramatically improve performance for Internet and Intranet Web servers," said Michael Lambert, senior vice president for Dell`s Enterprise Systems Group. "The fine-tuned caching of Novell`s ICS, combined with the performance and reliability of Dell`s PowerApp.cache appliance servers allow us to deliver servers that are easy-to-install and simple to maintain."

A key component in Novell`s new one Net strategy, ICS technology allows Dell to deliver turnkey caching appliances that accelerate nearly every aspect of Web performance across all types of networks and all leading operating systems, including eBusiness transactions. Dell`s global presence has allowed them to be one of the first major systems manufacturers to help drive the ICS-based caching appliances to a leading position in the market.
