Novell has announced that it is partnering with Compaq and more than 40 education partners in Europe, Middle East and Africa to deliver a joint training initiative called Novell NetWare 6 First Class. The programme aims to train 10 000 people on Novell NetWare 6 and NetWare clustering and storage solutions from Compaq before 31 December 2001. NetWare 6 is due to be launched towards the end of 2001.
The Novell NetWare 6 First Class training programme will provide the best level of training available to Novell`s customers, partners and Novell and Compaq certified engineers. This hands-on technical training will give Novell and Compaq`s partners and customers a detailed understanding of both the new technologies and the business opportunities that NetWare 6 brings, including support for network storage devices, disk pooling and Novell Cluster Services.
"Compaq and Novell have a long history together. We share an installed base, a reseller channel, many certified Compaq Accredited System Engineers (ASE) are also Certified Novell Engineers (CNE), and we have a common support infrastructure. Therefore we have all the ingredients to prepare the market for the introduction of Novell NetWare 6," said Novell managing director Richard Beytagh.
NetWare 6 provides non-stop access to networked stored information, regardless of location or device and is the most highly available platform for running Net services.
The solutions covered during the training include non-stop availability of Net services; ubiquitous access to networked information, from any client device; helping organisations realise the unimpaired benefits of printing on the Net, by unleashing the power of new Web technologies; and superior storage management, which maximises customers` storage investment.

Novell and Compaq recently hosted a large-scale instructor training programme at Novell Brainshare Europe in Nice, France, where 46 attendees were trained on NetWare 6 First Class. Certified instructors will deliver two-day hands-on sessions in local language, starting mid-June in 24 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa. All Novell NetWare 6 First Class attendees will receive a student kit and a certification of completion. Novell has provided high-level training through the NAEC`s (Novell Authorised Education Centres) for more than 13 years. The global network of authorised partners comply with Novell`s high standard for excellence using only authorised curriculum and ensuring that courses are taught by Certified Novell Instructors. Selected NAEC`s throughout EMEA will be providing customers with the detailed knowledge on NetWare 6 technologies.
