NSS, Africa's leader in simulation development and service management training, today announced its enhanced simulation, based on ITIL V.3 service management processes and principles.
According to Keith Reynolds, who was part of the original simulation build team for Sail (service alignment through interactive learning), many of the "new" principles were already available in the previous version of the programme.
Most of the components missing in ITIL V.2 were catered for in other simulations offered by NSS, such as the NSS-developed simulation for the telecommunication e-Tom programme. This cross-framework understanding has enabled NSS to keep abreast of the changes imposed by the release of ITIL V.3.
The NSS ITIL V3 Sail programme is aimed at bringing NSS customers to a new level of IT service management understanding. The new enhanced syllabus, officially released yesterday, was key to covering areas that were previously not a focus of the ITIL framework. These new topics include:
* Strategy generation
* Service design aspects
* Supplier management
* Outsourcing models
* Service knowledge management system
* Application design and management
* Technology architecture design and management
* Service measurement
* Event management
* Request fulfilment
Janice Alford, Consulting Executive at NSS, stated: "We are pleased to see the aggressive approach many organisations are taking towards the adoption of process improvement programmes and the interest in ITIL V.3." She said the fact that the simulation is in-house, developed by a team of experts, provides NSS the flexibility to offer customers bespoke type learning.
NSS has been using a simulated ITIL teaching environment for over four years and believes the flexible environment and structure of the Sail simulation aids students to absorb the theory and get insight into the practical application of the framework.
