NYC Marathon gets full AV coverage
Digital Journal states.
For this year's event, on 6 November, which had an estimated 47 000 entrants and 2.5 million in-person spectators (315 million worldwide television viewers), SmartSource again provided all of the information technology, audiovisual equipment and related support services used along the 26.2-mile course, which started on the Verrazano bridge.
SmartSource provided the entire IT infrastructure, video walls and digital signage at the Javits Center for pre-race activities, which included a three-day Health & Fitness Expo, where the many thousands of entrants came to pick up their race numbers and informational packets.
According to Red Orbit, SmartSource president and CEO Mike McClernon, who was on site on race day, was notably proud of the company's significant role in what is widely recognised as the world's premier road race.
“We had about 20 stages set up along the route, entertaining hundreds of thousands of spectators along the race course, and video walls and IT equipment set up to support the marathon infrastructure and various runner events.”
