NYSE deploys 10G Ethernet network

Juniper Networks has landed perhaps its most significant enterprise to date, as the New York Stock Exchange plans to deploy hundreds of the company's switches for a time-sensitive, low-latency 10Gbps Ethernet , reports NetworkWorld.

The network will connect two NYSE centres, one in New Jersey and the other in London.

NYSE officials say it will be among the fastest trading networks in the world, with latency in the 50 microsec to 150 microsec range.

Cisco protects network traffic

Cisco has unveiled a set of solutions that concentrate on data security across corporate networks, states PR-USA.

Cisco has partnered with RSA, the Security Division of EMC, to roll out data loss prevention capabilities integrated into Cisco's IronPort e-mail security products.

Cisco says its security solutions help businesses protect sensitive customer and employee data while enforcing regulatory compliance and protecting their brands.

Sony to become network company

Sony insiders in Japan have confirmed that Sony is set to transform itself from being primarily a consumer electronics company to being a network services company that delivers content to display, sound and PC devices, says SmartHouse.

Sony is planning the re-launch of the company to coincide with the 2010 Fifa World Cup and among the new initiatives will be a network gaming console, a content network, and display devices including OLED TVs and a modified reader to compete with the Kindle.

The electronics giant claims the multimillion dollar investment is critical to the future of the company which is banking on networking to turn their fortunes around.
