OKI to exhibit at banking expo

The China International Exhibition on Financial Technology & Equipment 2007 is being held in Beijing this week, says Infobolsa.

As a manufacturer of ATMs with deposit and withdrawal functions, OKI will display and promote its ATMs in the Chinese market - a market mostly made up of withdrawal-function-only machines.

In addition, OKI will introduce a variety of IT solutions, which enable financial institutions to improve their services.

Monitise shares rise 7%

Shares in mobile banking and payments company Monitise were up 7.3% on Thursday after it announced the formal launch of Monitise Americas, reports Market Watch.

The UK-based company said it expects consumer services to launch next year and it is already working with financial institutions and mobile carriers.

Monitise says interest in its mobile interface, which aims to replicate an automatic teller machine on a mobile handset, has grown since the company's flotation earlier this year.

Small banks go hi-tech the cheap way

Small , particularly those in the co-operative sector of Mumbai, are finding a cheap alternative to bring high-end services to customers even as big banks spend on core banking, says The Economic Times.

By tying up with application providers, co-operatives are able to rent out the core banking technology from IT providers without locking their capital in purchasing the solution.

Greater Bombay Co-operative Bank, Surat People's Co-operative Bank, Municipal Co-operative Bank and another Tumkur-based co-operative bank are among those who have chosen to outsource their entire back-end to C-Edge.
