Shares in Old Mutual, which has one of the largest market capitalisations on the JSE, are to be dematerialised from next Tuesday.
With a market capitalisation of R55.02 billion, Old Mutual is the seventh-largest company on the JSE.
The dematerialisation of the share will be an interesting one to watch, since the company has a large number of very small shareholders following its demutualisation a few years ago.
The largest company on the JSE, Anglo American, entered the electronic settlement environment in October. Strate says the process went without hitch.
According to Strate's schedule, all counters on the JSE will be dematerialised by the end of this month.
