Omnia and QAD have signed a multimillion-rand enterprise resource planning deal (ERP) that will see QAD becoming the diversified market solutions provider's preferred ERP manager for its global operations.
“QAD was able to provide us with a cost-effective solution that met all our business requirements, while at the same time supporting the group's strategic initiative to do business more effectively and efficiently,” says Omnia MD Rod Humphris.
A statement from QAD says it was short-listed, with three other solutions providers, to tender for Omnia's business. This formed part of Omnia's Quantum Initiative, whereby it reviewed its business operations and practices to identify the requirements its chosen ERP solution provider had to meet.
The company's group-wide strategic initiative aimed to improve customer service, drive operational excellence, particularly in the supply chain, and lower the cost of doing business.
Humphris says QAD has the enterprise solutions, expertise and capabilities to address the needs of a multinational company such as Omnia, which operates in a complex and volatile market.
Omnia will deploy QAD as its enterprise business, advanced planning and information system. The company plans to go live with its first division by the first quarter of 2009 and anticipates that the group-wide implementation will be complete by mid-2010.
