Onboard scores Spanair contract

Inflight systems provider Onboard Retail Solutions will supply its onboard retail technology to Spanair following an agreement between the Spanish carrier and catering firm Newrest, with which Onboard has a business partnership, reports DFNIonline.

Newrest already uses the company's onBOS BackOffice system to manage Spanair's inflight retail operation and will introduce the onPOS point-of-sale software within the next few months.

The contract also stipulates that Onboard will provide support and maintenance services for the software and hardware used by Spanair.

Altierre unveils retail technology centre

Altierre, a provider of dynamic pricing solutions for retailers, unveiled a retail technology centre at its company headquarters in San Jose, consisting of a 45 000-square-foot paperless retail demo store and adjacent tech lab, states msnbc.

Designed as a full-scale, fully-functional replica of a large retail outlet, Altierre's Retail Technology Centre will serve as an incubator and testing facility for the company's products as well as other companies' new applications aimed at improving productivity, merchandising, display and the consumer shopping experience for large retail chains.

"Forward-looking retailers are all looking for ways to improve the customer's shopping experience, increase efficiencies and productivity and enhance profitability. The demo store is perfect for test driving new hardware and software under actual retail conditions," said Altierre, chairman and CEO of Sunit Saxena.

Chelsea & Scott select Micros-Retail

Direct marketer, Chelsea & Scott, an existing customer of Micros-Retail's Fry Open Commerce Platform has completed the successful implementation of CWSerenade and CWValueCard, says FoxBusiness.

The addition of the new solutions at Chelsea & Scott makes this the first Micros-Retail customer utilising Fry's OCP for its e-commerce sites and CWSerenade Java Order Management for call centre and fulfilment.

"Our legacy system could not provide the functionality or ease of use we required," stated Matt Alberts, IT director at Chelsea & Scott. "We selected Micros-Retail CWSerenade as it gives us the ability to streamline our business process and eliminate pain points in day-to-day operations. Since it uses Java and SQL Server, it integrates easily with other solutions."
