Following the success of the e-learning initiative at Anglo American in June last year, ONYX IT has embarked on a massive training project which will affect Anglo-American offices worldwide.
In this exciting and innovative venture, Anglo American Johannesburg corporate office staff are currently being trained on the new enterprise information portal. This portal will be rolled out to all Anglo American offices worldwide, making it the biggest portal roll-out in the world, in 2004.
According to Hendra Bezuidenhout, change management stream leader for this initiative, the human element is the most influential aspect of any technological solution. To minimise the performance dip that occurs when new technology is introduced, professional trainers from Onyx IT were tasked to conduct the training of the Johannesburg corporate office users.
Says Dale Liebenberg, ONYX IT MD: "Our vision is to make ONYX IT one of the biggest players in ICT training in Africa. This project with Anglo American helps us realise this vision. Being Anglo American`s strategic training partner allows us to understand their business objectives and training needs so that we can provide them with a holistic training solution.
"Training is all about people and through our training we reach each individual`s training requirements and address their general concerns. We know that if employees feel comfortable and accept the new technologies they will be more productive and efficient in how they apply it in their day-to-day operations. This is currently the biggest portal roll-out across the globe so naturally we`re excited to be a part of it! We`re helping effect change not just in Africa, but the rest of the world too."
