Lava Systems Africa, an affinity partner of Canadian-based Open Text, and one of the companies within the Enterprise Content & Wireless (ECW) Group, today announced that the latter's Hummingbird Connectivity division has received certification for Windows Vista from Microsoft for its family of products.
The announcement demonstrates Open Text's continued leadership as an early adopter of the latest Microsoft technologies.
Hummingbird Connectivity connects people to applications and data by providing a feature-rich and robust suite of technologies that helps organisations meet the challenges of integrating heterogeneous legacy infrastructures, such as Unix or Mainframe, with Windows desktops, while providing cost-effectiveness.
The company worked together with Microsoft to obtain the Certified for Windows Vista logo for Hummingbird Connectivity 2008, its next product release aimed for mid-summer 2007.

Hummingbird Connectivity is an integral member of the Windows Vista Early Adopter Programme. The Hummingbird Connectivity 2008 products that have received the Certified for Windows Vista logo include: Exceed, Exceed PowerSuite, HostExplorer, NFS Maestro Solo, NFS Maestro Client, NFS Maestro Server Enterprise Edition, Connectivity Secure Shell, and Connectivity SecureTerm. These products were extensively tested by VeriTest, Microsoft's official certification laboratory, and have been certified on both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.

Open Text and Microsoft relationship
The announcement by Hummingbird Connectivity adds to a string of recent successes for Open Text in its strategic relationship with Microsoft and its strategy of embracing the latest Microsoft technologies. In February, Open Text introduced the first US Department of Defense-Certified records management solution for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007; and in April, Open Text's Artesia Digital Media Group demonstrated integration with Microsoft Interactive Media Manager at the National Association of Broadcasters Conference. Open Text is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and the Microsoft 2006 Global ISV Partner of the Year.
