Optibase, represented locally by Graphic Image Technologies, has joined the Wireless Multimedia Forum (WMF) for developing an industry-wide consensus on use of certain protocols and service delivery platforms in the mobile arena.
The forum`s activities focus on the delivery of content from wireless networks to mobile devices, as well as from wired networks such as the Internet, to mobile devices.
The WMF Forum, which consists of hardware and software vendors, carriers and content developers, will work with official standards groups such as IETF, ISO and ITU and the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Forum. "Optibase`s expertise in the areas of streaming media and MPEG-4 can significantly contribute to the implementation of common technologies for distribution of rich media content by all IP devices," says Mark Chertkow, MD of Graphic Image Technologies.
Optibase provides high-quality solutions that enable the preparation and delivery of MPEG-based digital video over broadband networks. Based on the company`s expertise in both MPEG and network technologies, Optibase has created a suite of products used in applications such as digital video archiving, distance learning, business television and content creation.
