Fujitsu Siemens Computers launches LIFEBOOK S-4572 with 750MHz Pentium III low voltage and DVD/CD-RW Combo drive
Fujitsu Siemens Computers` strategic mobility drive continues apace, with the announcement of the S-4572, its most powerful S Series notebook to date. The S-4572 offers a DVD-ROM and CD-RW combination drive which plugs into the unique S-Series modular bay, enabling busy mobile professionals to watch DVDs and save data to CD while on the move, saving time and facilitating greater information sharing.
The S-4572 LIFEBOOK runs on the high performance, low voltage 750MHz Pentium III with battery power optimising SpeedstepT technology. The notebook offers increased battery life, with the first battery providing 2.24 hours of power. No bigger than an A4 sheet, the S-4572 provides maximum functionality in a sleek, 1.75 kg package. As the lightest modular notebook with a multibay concept on the market, the S Series of Fujitsu Siemens Computers had a tremendous market growth in the ultra-portable market.
"Today`s mobile professional demands a high and flexible level of computing power to meet his or her needs on an any time, anywhere basis. The new LIFEBOOK S-4572 offers mobile `warriors` the power and flexibility of a desktop PC in a sleek, ultra-portable form. Its excellent battery runtime, flexible power modes and broad functionality, especially with the new DVD-ROM and CD-RW combination drive, gives business professionals a new level of freedom allowing them to save time and money," comments Dino Kondos, Fujitsu Siemens Computers` Product Manager.
Security is a key concern for business professionals who rely heavily on mobile computing, due to the reduced control of user access and increased risk of theft associated with mobile devices. The S-4572 shares the LIFEBOOK cross platform security features for access protection and data security. It is equipped with an integrated SmartCard reader including the Standard Security Kit, rather than offering this as an accessory. Dual password protection in the BIOS and the HDD means that even when connected to another PC, the hard drive of the S-4572 cannot be read without authorisation.
The growing mobile workforce presents network administrators with a challenge when trying to manage the performance of all company devices. The S-4572 includes a mobile version of DeskView, a management software tool which tracks data from technical configuration to component failure. Mobile manageability tools can reduce total cost of ownership by up to 30% in terms of day-to-day operating costs, according to Kondos.
Other features of the new S-4572 include an internal 56k modem/LAN combo enabling global Internet access, a sensitive Touchpad and user-friendly Quick Touch buttons for applications such as e-mail and Internet browser. The S-4572 has a 12.1-inch display, 10/20 GB HDD, PC Card slot and 256MB memory. Operating systems supported are Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, Windows NT4, Windows 2000 and with 128MB main memory, Ready to Experience Windows XP.
