Oracle adds support to Apple
Business Intelligence (BI) software vendor, Oracle, has introduced support for Apple's iPad and iPhone as part of a slew of enhancements to its BI software, the company revealed, says PC World.
According to the Information Week, the revisions weren't extensive, but they follow on the heels of a significant BI revamp and big sales gains for Oracle in 2010.
The vendor offered a couple of notable improvements to its core Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition suite with the 11.1.1.5 release, adding a revamped mobile-BI client for iPhone and iPad and new data sources.
Oracle also updated its line-up of pre-built analytic applications and the Oracle Real-Time Decisions application.
Paul Rodwick, VP of product management for Oracle BI, told eCRM Guide that the company is seeing the same trend.
The enterprise software giant is seeing “very demonstrable interest” in BI on the iPad, which is why the company focused on Apple iOS first. Other devices are “on the roadmap,” he said.
Rodwick said the Oracle mobile BI app is a native shell app, operating like a native app but requires no redevelopment or training. Users can access all Oracle BI 11g dashboards, reports and scorecard capabilities and geospatial visualisations.
