Oracle demonstrates continued momentum in Europe, Middle East and Africa

Oracle launched its ultimate model of computing - Oracle grid computing, Oracle E-Business Suite strong in the public sector and financial services

Oracle Corporation today announced key customer wins signed during the second quarter of its fiscal year 2004 across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Oracle continues to demonstrate momentum as businesses and organisations across industries in the EMEA region choose Oracle software and services over competitors` offerings, citing target benefits such as lower operational costs, increased efficiencies and the ability to drive new revenues.

Sergio Giacoletto, Executive Vice President, Oracle Europe, Middle East & Africa, said: "This quarter we have introduced major product developments, which will give us an unrivalled portfolio of offerings to help organisations spend less and do more. With the upcoming release of Oracle 10g Grid Computing, we will provide the first grid-ready solution in the marketplace and offer organisations the most powerful and cost-effective way to manage their information and business applications."

Oracle10g Database, Oracle10g Application Server, Oracle Collaboration Suite

* Oracle launched the software powering Oracle Grid Computing - Oracle 10g - marking the evolution from Internet to Grid-based architectures.

* Customers in the region who have beta tested the Oracle 10g product family during the second quarter of FY04 include: Ordnance Survey (UK), BioMed Central (UK) and CERN (Switzerland).

* Oracle launched Oracle Standard Edition One, a single processor version of the Oracle Standard Edition Database, to meet the unique needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and departments of large enterprises.

* Oracle and Vodafone announced a joint initiative to offer enterprise customers integrated mobility solutions based on Oracle 10g and Vodafone Network Services.

* Oracle and Fujitsu Siemens Computers announced an initiative aimed at reducing software complexity and speeding up integration of legacy data with modern systems

In December 2003, Oracle announced the availability of Oracle JDeveloper 10g Preview, giving developers early access to the upcoming release of the product

* Oracle Database 10g set a new world performance record with the first TPC-H one-terabyte benchmark on Linux.

Oracle E-Business Suite

* Oracle saw continued demand for the Oracle E-Business Suite, particularly in the Public Services and Financial Services sectors. The Oracle E-Business Suite comprises more than 145 modules spanning financial, human resources, payroll, project management, customer relationship management and supply chain management applications.

* In November 2003, Oracle extended the functionality of its Oracle E-Business Suite Special Edition to include Oracle Manufacturing, Oracle Sales and Oracle Service Management modules. The Oracle E-Business Suite Special Edition is available in 26 localised European versions. Oracle iLearning, as an outsourced service, is now managing the learning and training activities of more than 500,000 registered users.

* Oracle launched enhanced capabilities for Oracle Human Resources Management System (HRMS) and Oracle Treasury to enable companies to meet corporate governance requirements.
