Oracle Corporation has signed a licensing agreement with MapInfo Corporation allowing Oracle to embed MapInfo visualisation technology in its e-business CRM and ERP applications.
In terms of the agreement, Oracle`s Mobile Field Services product will be the first application to incorporate MapInfo visualisation technology. This will enable Oracle customers to deliver spatially-enabled enterprise applications to the field.
"The agreement reflects a true integration of the Internet technologies of Oracle and Mapinfo, both of whom recognise the value of location and are committed to setting new global standards for the e-business marketplace," comments Glenn Lottering CRM business development manager at Oracle SA.
"With MapInfo technology embedded in Oracle e-business applications, we can offer our customers greater capability to leverage location in their enterprise data and, as a result, become more competitive," he says.
"This is possible because of MapInfo`s commitment to build technology that is truly Internet-enabled. This aligns with Oracle`s position as the largest provider of software for e-business."
This follows the recent announcement by MapInfo and Oracle of the first Internet-based spatial data analysis solution running on the Oracle8i database and utilising Oracle Spatial, a system which provides the capability to manage and analyse geographic data in Oracle8i, and MapInfo` s suite of Web-based spatial and mapping products.
