Oracle Corporation, the world`s largest enterprise software company, announced today that it has successfully completed go to market planning for Oracle Collaboration Suite with Fujitsu Siemens Computers, and has already begun joint sales and marketing activities to customers looking for an efficient, consolidated collaboration and communications platform.
At the launch of the solution in July 2002, Oracle made a commitment to deliver the solution to its customers by the end of the year and due to the close co-operation with Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Oracle has been able to deliver the solution to market ahead of schedule.
The unique combination of Intel-based PRIMERGY and Solaris/SPARC based PRIMEPOWER server series from Fujitsu Siemens Computers provides the ideal hardware platform upon which to run the Oracle Collaboration Suite. This offers customers the ability to better consolidate their back-end infrastructure, make it extremely scalable, reliable and secure and, most importantly in today`s economic climate, save money. Oracle Collaboration Suite enables customers to dramatically reduce the costs associated with managing complex networks of messaging and collaboration servers, while achieving greater efficiencies through consolidation and integration of e-mail, fax, voicemail, telephony, files and calendaring into one universally accessible, scalable, reliable and secure system.
"It is a testimony to the strength of our partnership with Oracle that we have succeeded to deliver on our promise made in July and are able to offer our customers Oracle Collaboration Suite," said Dr Joseph Reger, Chief Technology Officer of Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "The combination of our hardware and consultancy expertise combined with Oracle`s software offers customers significant benefits when deploying or managing collaborative solutions. Both companies have an in-depth understanding of the enterprise environment, which means we can deliver unrivalled solutions that meet the high standards demanded by enterprise customers."
Working with Fujitsu Siemens Computers provides potential customers with a range of industry leading products and services, which reduce the total cost of ownership and maximise their availability across the network. Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers choice of operating systems, including Windows, Linux and Solaris on both Intel and SPARC architectures. The company is also able to integrate a pre-configured voice communication server for Oracle Collaboration Suite which allows network independence and is able to share data from multiple media and network resources across legacy and next-generation IP solutions.
As a result, Oracle Collaboration Suite is able to meet customers` need for a more integrated communications environment - these Oracle benefits include: security, reliability, integration, universal search and access through any device. Version 2 of Oracle Collaboration Suite includes a complete collaboration solution - calendar, real-time conferencing capabilities, email, file support, voicemail and workflow - centralised and protected in a database with universal access through Microsoft Outlook, any Web browser, voice, wireless device or fax. A number of integrated innovations have been introduced, such as voice access, voicemail and Ultra Search capabilities, which gives users the unprecedented ability to search in one place for any document, e-mail, voicemail or other communication using dates, words or phrases.
"We are extremely satisfied that we can announce the availability of Oracle Collaboration Suite in Europe and are delighted to be working with Fujitsu Siemens Computers, because they are the ideal partner to help us demonstrate the value of this solution to our customers," said Sergio Giacoletto, Executive Vice-President, Oracle Europe, Middle East and Africa Oracle Corporation. "Oracle Collaboration Suite addresses the very serious issue of respective infrastructures and its spiralling costs, which in today`s budget constrained IT departments is unacceptable. By centralising their messaging solutions on Oracle Collaboration Suite, companies can achieve immediate cost-efficiencies and productivity gains."
In a separate announcement today, Oracle announced that Fujitsu Siemens would also become the first hi-tech customer in Europe, testimony to the company`s confidence in the solution.
