Oracle launches online partner community

Johannesburg, 04 Feb 2002

Oracle has launched the Oracle PartnerNetwork, a comprehensive online community that is geared to simplify the method of accessing and delivering Oracle, and other third-party, resources.

The Oracle PartnerNetwork enables partners as diverse as solution integrators, hardware vendors, application service providers (ASPs), system integrators and independent software vendors (ISVs) to move their business online, according to Marc Gower, Oracle SA marketing director.

"Featuring a dedicated Web services portal, the Oracle PartnerNetwork helps partners move their business online, cut costs and increase efficiency by providing immediate access to all of the resources and online services needed to develop a successful partnership with Oracle as well as to take advantage of all of the benefits an online business can offer," he says.

"The Oracle PartnerNetwork is designed to position our partners for success. Oracle has already experienced the efficiencies of moving to an e-business model.

"We have increased our margins, slashed internal costs, expanded our reach and have been able to do more with less. We want to enable our partners to experience the same benefits from adapting the e-business model," adds Gower.

Through the Oracle PartnerNetwork, partners can find a series of Web services that they can use to conduct their business online at each stage of the typical business cycle. The services, identical to those already developed and used by Oracle, include:

* Develop - Provides access to Oracle software downloads, technical training, development services, access to Oracle Portal Studio and Oracle Mobile Studio, and developer chats.

* Market - Oracle eMarketing materials, presentations, "event in a box" marketing execution and planning self-service tools.

* Sell - Allows Oracle partners to generate more leads and sales for their products and services by providing direct access to Oracle sales contacts, price lists, go-to-market practices, sales training, Solutions Marketplace as well as access to services such as the Oracle Solutions Marketplace.

* Deliver - Provides access to Oracle online service integration, delivery methodology, and configuration certification.

* Manage - Provides access to Oracle partner contacts, partner agreements and membership information.

All Oracle partners are in the process of making the transition to the Oracle PartnerNetwork, allowing them free access to the portal and the services it provides. For new partners, access to the portal will be included in the annual partner subscription fee.
