Oracle rebrands VirtualBox

Oracle has updated its free open source VirtualBox solution and rebranded it as Oracle VM VirtualBox version 3.2.0, reports InfoWorld.

This is the first version of VirtualBox to bear the Oracle logo.

VirtualBox has surpassed 26 million downloads worldwide since October 2007 and receives in excess of 40 000 downloads per day.

VMware, Google join forces

Virtualisation giant VMware is joining forces with Google to create solutions aimed at making it easier for enterprise software developers to build and manage cloud-based applications, writes Channel Web.

The companies will collaborate to enable Java developers to build cloud applications using Google and VMware performance tools.

Paul Maritz, president of VMware, claims the partnership will enable the two firms to provide enterprise customers with business agility and innovation from using applications hosted in cloud environments.

Infoblox expands virtualised solutions

Infoblox, which delivers platforms for core network services, has expanded its portfolio of solutions for virtualised network environments, says Business Wire.

The Infoblox IP Address Management solution is designed to track IP addresses assigned to virtual machines.

The company is also offering Infoblox vNIOS for VMware, the company's operating system optimised for VMware; which allows deployment of a virtualised instance of an Infoblox appliance.
