Oracle releases TimesTen
Oracle has unveiled Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database 11g and a database caching option, in a nod toward the middle tier, says eWeek.
The TimesTen In-Memory Database is a stand-alone in-memory relational database with full persistence and recoverability. With the caching option, Oracle is looking to improve application performance by caching data in-memory.
The in-memory caches are transactional read-write caches with full persistence, recoverability and automatic data synchronisation with the database, Oracle officials said.
Samsung offers 1TB storage
The newly unveiled Samsung Spinpoint F3 reportedly can operate at 7200rpm and offer storages up to 1TB by incorporating two 500GB platter disks, reports TMCnet.
According to Samsung, this drive meets data centre requirements for additional storage.
The drives are also more energy efficient. The new disk makes use of fewer mechanical components that makes it resistant to shock and data failure.
