Oracle SA has announced that the Oracle9i Database is immediately available for free download from Oracle Technology Network (OTN).
Deon Roos, Oracle9i product specialist, says that by downloading the Oracle9i Database, partners and customers can begin building and testing applications on Oracle`s latest platform.
He predicts a significant surge in demand by users who are currently testing and validating Internet applications on the Oracle9i Database.
"By providing free early access to the Oracle9i Database, we are enabling customers and partners to gain a head start on building new solutions," says Roos.
The commercial availability of the Oracle9i Database is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 14 June during a worldwide launch at Oracle`s headquarters in Redwood Shores, California.
