Local data storage manufacturer Orca Technologies, a CCH group company, has announced its channel strategy for its range of external data storage solutions.
Lennie Botha, channel manager at Orca Technologies says the time is right to attack the storage market aggressively, as the product has reached maturity with a solid market share, CE certification, and the recent release of its fibre offering.
Orca will appoint channel partners whose focus is data storage, specialists in industry verticals such as graphics, financials, legal and government, and companies that focus on a particular hardware platform.
"The approach is to create a gridiron distribution model which will ensure that all niche markets using the server platform of their choice will have access to the skills and support from Orca partners for their particular business," Botha explains. "Channel partners, in turn, will have a unique service available to them - the full support and engineering skills of Orca`s designers and manufacturers." Sales and engineering training will be provided, and regular workshops will be held to keep partners up to date with the latest designs and enhancements.
Botha believes that Orca will break into markets where mass data storage has not been considered an option to date. "Because the Orca is locally manufactured, companies will benefit from a highly affordable data storage solution with the best price/performance characteristics. The openness of the Orca storage solution means that it runs on a very wide range of server platforms and network operating systems, giving companies a very flexible storage solution."
At the enterprise level, Orca has released its Orca Fibre Connect solution offering SAN multi-connect, high speed data storage and data access options. "Orca has proved itself as a world class product in all mission critical environments, especially in the telecommunications, financial and services arenas," Botha concludes. "The product augments the offering of other solution providers and leading industry niche players. Our channel strategy will support these solution partners throughout South Africa, and will provide businesses with a stable, scalable, cost effective and fully supported storage solution."
