SS Telecoms is the preferred supplier to many LCR providers for the FCTMux, a solution that offers the latest in compact E1 to GSM Least Cost Routing, using one E1 trunk port to split into 32 direct-air-to-air GSM interface channels. This provides for the optimal use of E1 trunks. One of the excellent features of this very stable and proven product is the remote upgrade, monitoring and maintenance function.
Mobile number portability
According to Andr'e ten Napel, CEO of SS Telecoms, it has been supplying LCR equipment into the UK for a number of years and were therefore number portability-ready and only had to make a few minor changes to accommodate the South African model. The solution is based on GPRS technology, making use of flash memory to host an on-site database of 250 million numbers, thus all numbers are stored.
When porting takes place, the database is updated from the FTP Server. The GPRS device communicates with the database and all numbers that have ported are updated. When a call is made, the SP-network is verified on the GPRS database by means of a dynamic look-up on all calls, thus 100% first-time routing is done. Customers can also host their own database.
