Outsourcing boosts firm's performance
Construction and facilities management firm Mitie has seen its business performance improved with the use of third-party services, which may have included IT outsourcing, states iHotdesk.
According to Reuters, the group is well placed for profitable growth in the coming months, as more firms outsource work to save money amid the ongoing economic uncertainty.
Mitie, which provides maintenance, cleaning and security services for banks and courts of law, told the news provider that it expects earnings for the year ending 31 March to be in line with its forecast.
IT offshore on the rise
CIOs looking to move IT work offshore in 2011 are on the prowl for the locales that cost the least, even if that means bringing in their own security, notes Search CIO.
At least, that's the view reflected in Gartner's latest version of its list of top 30 countries for IT offshore outsourcing.
Missing from Gartner's 2011 list are seven developed countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, Singapore and Spain. Those veteran locations remain viable choices for companies requiring mature IT outsourcing services or a geographic foothold, according to Gartner, but cost is no longer a selling point.
NetApp to partner Hexaware
NetApp India will now partner with IT and process outsourcing services company Hexaware, says Information Week.
This affiliation will enable Hexaware to provide a flexible and secure multi-tenant storage environment. Hexaware's cloud service, dubbed Rainmaker, is designed to provide IT-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Storage-as-a-Service to users, and will be provided via NetApp's multi-tenant storage solutions and VMware's vCloud Director.
This is also the first implementation of VMware vCloud Director for cloud services on NetApp storage in India.
