The Crystal Enterprise solution, supplied by Ovations Technologies, has been selected to standardise enterprise reporting across the Sasol Synfuels company in Secunda - the world`s only commercial coal-based synthetic fuels manufacturing facility.
Enterprise business process automation and business intelligence specialist Ovations Technologies will supply and implement the solution.
"Sasol Synfuels has invested in two Crystal Enterprise processor licences and three copies of the Crystal Reports Developer edition," says George Smalberger, sales and marketing director at Ovations Technologies. "The system will integrate with the company`s existing applications and the plan is to deploy it to users in a zero-client environment with no software on the client`s site and access to the system via their intranet, extranet or the Internet."
"The solution is designed to access and integrate data from virtually any source and build interactive reports from relational and OLAP sources. Crystal Enterprise will enable the company to consolidate its reporting, analysis and information delivery requirements into a flexible standard," explains Trevor Caddy, Crystal Decisions` regional director for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.
"Crystal Enterprise will establish an e-business framework, delivering a globally scalable, multi-tier fault tolerant architecture, built to withstand the most demanding business environments," Caddy continues. "It offers a flexible solution for integrating with Sasol Synfuels`s intranet, extranet and corporate portal applications to satisfy information delivery requirements for diverse audiences with a range of security clearances. This will enable rapid creation of sophisticated, actionable information for decision-makers through one integrated solution for reporting, analysis and delivery for the Web."
The Crystal Decisions solution will be deployed and customised to provide secure access to interactive, actionable information for employees, customers and suppliers, and will, over time, be further enhanced to increase the value of every strategic information asset.
"Time-to-market and ongoing software maintenance efforts are key areas where IT organisations can look to reduce costs, improve efficiency and better meet business objectives. Crystal Enterprise therefore has the potential to deliver an enterprise-wide standard solution for the client. This will result in a more cost-effective approach to IT budget and staff, as well as the freedom to address more projects in a timely, proactive manner," concludes Caddy.
